Really Cool Science Projects

Why Parents Must Help Their Kids Have a REALLY cool science project for their science fair!

You need a science project, but not an ordinary science project, your looking for something that will impress!  Your looking to make a bang!  Your looking for a really cool science project!

Ah!  But the school science fair isn't a competition, is it?  YES!  IT IS!  In fact, it can help you for the rest of your life!  IT is show time!  It is your day to shine!  You don't want an ordinary project!  You've come to the right place for a really cool science projects!

What Happens to You If you Have an Ordinary Project at a Science Fair?

Nothing.

That's right nothing! No ewwwws!  No AAAAAHHHS!  With all the neat things to see at a science fair, if you don't have something good, people will just walk right by your science project and head to the table with the cool project!  Even those who do stop might pretend to be listening to your science speech about your boring volcano!  They might politely smile and  ask you some questions about your sleepy lemon batteries, but they are really listening to the laughs and gasps from the project three doors down from you, to the student who has a really cool science project.  The person whose parents read this blog post to help them have the best day of school ever!

Why Have a Really Cool Science Project?

A really cool science project will get students excited  about the project, you'll learn more and have more fun!  Research shows that students who succeed in one area, automatically transfer that improvement to all areas of their lives!
You'll impress people.
You'll be a hero.  We put on a science fair in my classroom and the kindergarteners who come to it, always remember cool projects.
You'll be remembered.

Why parents should help students have a really cool science project!

When parents get serious about science fair projects, students get serious about learning.
Science projects are super motivators.  Even if your child doesn't seem to enjoy the process, help him to have a cool project.  When students see the reactions they get from their really cool science project, they start to invest themselves more in their learning.
Kids will learn time mangagement skills.  This is not something that comes naturally to a student.  They need to learn it by attempting big, memorable projects.
It will help your child with public speaking.  If your child isn't excited about his/her science fair project, he/she may be shy.  The best cure for a shy student is having a great science project.  Why?  Because it draws people in.  Other students start asking questions, other students start asking about how it was done and what's it about.  As soon as the first classmates, says "That's awesome!"  The shy student feels a sense of relief and gains confidence.
A science fair is not a fun day for a student who doesn't have a really cool science project.

Cool science projects may be the first real world learning your child has had the chance to do!  It involves marketing, salesmanship, promotion and more.

How to find a really cool science project?

First, do not just look online for science projects!  That will only yield the same old science projects that other kids do.  Most of these science projects are just rehashed over and over again.  When selecting a science project pick something that is harder.  This weeds out more than half your competition.  Most students are looking for an easy way out, anything that involves a little extra time and effort to find will help you ensure that your child has a project that is cooler than other projects.  Read books!  That's right books!  Go to the library and look through science experiment books!  Lucky for you, I've spent years doing this and I can point you to some amazing books.  These books will helps you to pinpoint great search ideas that will yield awesome science project ideas.

Call around!  Get dads, uncles, aunts and any family member who has a real job that could enhance the project.  Get a team involved to help with the project.  This not only will help the project to be cool but it will help build family relationships!

There is a really cool book that I highly recommend for fun and easy science experiments that aren't boring.  Here is a sample page from the book.  It will show you how to turn a toy car into a power door opener.
